A New Year, A New Season, A New Resolution

Wow, I’m so sorry to have dropped the ball on everyone with the updates! Time does fly… It’s Jan 9th, 2020 and we are gearing up for the growing season. Cleaning up in the grow room, tidying greenhouses, ordering seed and updating websites and social media. It is all time consuming and a lot of work. I Can’t wait to see all of you in the following season!

Sincerely,

Kolter

Nearly June

As I started to write this I looked at the date of the last up[date that I made and noticed that a month ago today that I last posted an update!

So… …we got the potatoes, beets, carrots, peas, and beans in the ground last week! We also started planting beds of greens two weeks ago. There is LOTS of activity all around. very busy as usual. We are ready to get the onions, cabbage, kohlrabi and things like that as soon as our 1.75’’ of rain dries out enough that we can work without getting to messy! Lots to do, maintenance, new construction, planting, seeding, preparing orders and all the good stuff that comes along with spring on the farm!

as always, have fun and see you next time!

Busy Like Bees!

It is spring, our busiest time of the year!

I’ve been working like a horse trying to get everything done. I made my first two 2019 season drops to the Grocery stores and they are tickled with the product.

On Sunday I installed the wet wall cooling units for all three greenhouse and the last two steps is to plum in the water and the thermostat, then we will be “cool”er than ever before.

It has been very warm the last two weeks which has Boosted the growth of everything exponentially.

I look forward to seeing you all at market,

until then,

Kolter

Time Gone By

It has been an exceptionally crazy few weeks since I last posted anything but now I am finally here to write a little tiny bit!

The days are getting longer and the sun rises a little higher as time goes on. The heater has been working hard to keep greenhouse #1 warm as it has still been quite chilly outside, -20 to +5 F… …BRRR! We have a little break in the cold today however, it’s 20F. Despite cold outside temps we have been seeing a bit of sunshine which is a great blessing. The extra sunshine is also helping things to really take off inside the greenhouse too, you can tell from the pictures that the plants are really liking the slightly longer days.

Greenhouse Ablaze

I know what you are thinking, “he just posted something like two days ago”. that aside I am so excited I couldn't nt wait till next week to write another post! I cranked up the heat in greenhouse number 1 this weekend and moved some things out into it. today it is a whopping -3F out side but the sun is shining helping the heater to not burn up just to much propane. The other thing thats really neat is that the greenhouses that don’t have heaters on are sitting at 33-35F! Anyways, I thought that i’d share a couple photos of whats happening inside.

Is It Really February?😯

Well, that’s what they tell me. It’s really truly February. I’ve been meaning to add a newest for 2 weeks now, I guess thats how time flies. That being said, the heaters are now plumbed and ready to go and I have one of the greenhouses thawing out… … Great stuff!!!!!!!!!!

The ginger is running wild and there is all manner of little plants up under the starting lights. Tomatoes, peppers, eggplant, cabbage swiss chard and all that lettuce. It’s supposed to get cold again this week so that greenhouse is really going to have to kick out the BTUs to stay warm enough to thaw out the ground!

We are EXCITED to start putting stuff in the ground VERY SOON!!!!

until next time,

stay warm and keep watching.
